fata

Is anyone awake right now?

fata is a place for the words you have at 2 a.m. You write one line — or one paragraph. If someone else is awake and their words sit close to yours, fata introduces you: you both get one email with each other's address, and then you talk by email, from your own inbox. No photos, no swiping, no chat window, no endless feed, no queue to pay your way out of, and nobody judging how you write.

How it works

  1. Write what is keeping you up tonight, in your own words.
  2. Leave an email address. It is encrypted, and it is only ever handed to the one person you match with.
  3. When someone compatible is awake in overlapping hours, you each get one letter with the other's address. From then on the two of you talk by email, outside fata.

What fata is not

Questions

Is fata free?

Yes. There are no accounts, no subscriptions and nothing to install.

Who can read what I write?

Your words are encrypted before they are stored. Only the one person matched to you can read them, and only if you chose to show your text. fata never publishes your words.

What happens if nobody is awake?

You are told exactly that: nothing matched yet. Your words stay in the pool for up to 30 days, and you can take them back at any time. fata only emails you if a match actually happens.

Do you keep our letters?

No. Letters are sent from your own inbox to theirs. fata never sees them and has no chat database to leak.

Why exactly one person at a time?

Because a letter you actually answer is worth more than fifty matches you never write to. One match, then you decide.
